Dagenham Hotel

New build 80-bedroom hotel with adjoining restaurant providing 220 covers. The design was developed in strict conjunction with the London Development Agency who had identified this site as a ‘Gateway’ urban regeneration opportunity within Dagenham. The hotel design was agreed to be a monolithic brick statement reflecting the industrial past of Ford motors. The final appearance creates a controversial statement and has been accepted for the brick association awards in June. The restaurant design intends to reflect the Victorian urban corner public house vernacular and much research was made before the design was finalised. The completed project achieves what it set out to – i.e. the creation of a vibrant urban development within the Dagenham regeneration programme. The project was accomplished with a supervision of a British architect Allan Hollington.
